Why was Muhammad (peace be upon him) referred to as the seal of Prophets?

Why was Muhammad (peace be upon him) referred to as the seal of Prophets?

--
A. We Muslims believe in 6 items in their basic faith. They are in
1.One God,
2. Angels,
3. The scriptures,
4. The messengers,
5. The last day of  Judgement and
6. The destiny.

Rejection of anyone of these six items means that the faith is not complete. As for he belief in scriptures, Muslim believes that the early Messengers too were given scriptures in their own languages. The priests were custodians of those scriptures after their Messengers left the earth as mentioned by Quran: "And the rabbis and the priest [too judged the Jews by the Taurat after those Prophets] for, to them was entrusted the protection of Allahs Book and they were witness thereto." Chapter 5: Verse 44.

But the Quran has the unique position of being guarded by Allah from corruption as per chapter 15 verse 9 in the Quran "Verily We it is who have sent the Dhikir (i.e. Quran) and surely, we will guard it (from  corruption). The Muslims believe every single verse of the Quran, which are divided revelation from Allah.

Allah mentions in the Quran that "Muhammad (pbuh) is messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All-Aware of everything." Chapter 33 Verse 40.

Muslims believe and accept this divine revelation as well in the Quran.

Do we have any further explanation to this statements of the Quran by the Prophet (pbuh) himself? Narrated Jabir bin Abdallah: The Prophet (pbuh) said: "My example and  the example of the other prophets is that of a man who has built a house completely and excellently except for a place of one brick. When the people entered the house, they wondered at its beautiful and said, but for the place of this brick (how splendid the house will be)!" Reported by Bukhari

You should aware that the narrators of hadiths are of excellent characters and their lives were studied in minute detail before anything they narrated was accepted as authentic.

The above are very valid reasons for the Muslims to believe that Muhammad (pbuh) is the last Prophets.

Let us go a step further and see whether the Quran sheds more light in this matter.

"And remember when Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary) said: O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Taurat (Torah which came) before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed." Quran Chapter 61: Verse 6.

Narrated Jubair bin Mutim (ra): Allahs messenger (pbuh) said, "I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmed, I am Al-Mahi through whom Allah will eliminate infidelity; I am Al-Hashir who will be first to be resurrected, the people being resurrected thereafter; and I am also Al-Aqib i.e. there will be no prophet after me." Reported by Bukhari

We suggest that if you are able to get the book, "Muhammad in the Bible" by Dr. Jamal Badawi. It will provide you with more details on this from the Bible.

Before closing this reply we which to point out one important fact. That is, very previous scripture and previous religion has prophesied of the last messenger to come, which shows that those previous scriptures, religions and messengers were not the final end in the line.

This trues not only in the case of Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible, but also in the case Buddhism and Hinduism too.

Quran is the only scripture which declares that the guidance (religion) from Allah is complete, and the final messengers too has arrived.

Say: [Muhammad (pbuh)] "What is thing is most Weighty in evidence?"
Say: "Allah is witness between me and you; This Quran hath been Revealed to me by inspirations. That I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another God? Say:
"Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the One God. And I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him." Chapter 6: Verse 19

We suggest that you read and study the Noble Quran (the miracle of miracles) by your self and find out that it is the truth and the weightiest evidence that Muhammad is the last messenger of God. If like to obtain a copy of the Quran please send us you mailing address and we will be happy to send you a copy.

May Allah help you to seek more knowledge and guide you in the right path..
