    Oracle Announces the Winners of the 2010 Oracle Academy Global Data Modeling Competition

    Redwood Shores, Calif., – June 30, 2010
    News Facts

    Student teams from Romania and China earned top honors in the 2010 Oracle Academy Global Data Modeling Competition.
    The competition, open to students from participating Oracle Academy institutions worldwide, invited teams to develop data models that address real-world business challenges.
    The students were challenged to create a database that would track oceanographic data to supportday-to-day business operations.
    A global team of volunteer experts from industry and education reviewed each entry for business, technical and communications excellence.
    For the fifth consecutive year, Romanian schools were awarded the top two prizes, with China taking third place. The winning entries are as follows:
    1st Place: Colegiul National de Informatica "Tudor Vianu"
    Teacher: Monica Gradinescu
    2nd Place: Colegiul National de Informatica "Tudor Vianu"
    Teacher: Corina Ciobanu
    3rd Place: Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology
    Teacher: Yunfan Lu
    Students from the top three teams each received scholarships ranging from $1,000 USD to $250 USD, depending on placement.
    Additionally the following teams received an honorable mention:
    National College of Computer Science "Tudor Vianu" (Dan Grigoriu), Romania
    Temasek Polytechnic Informacs and IT School (How Woan Ling), Singapore
    Tudor Vianu National High School of Computer Science (Marcel Homorodean), Romania
    Arkansas School for Math, Sciences and the Arts (Daniel Moix), United States
    Elsnaria Prep School for Girls (Solaf Ahmed Ashour), Egypt
    Moon Area High School (Warren Kooi), United States
    Commercial College Vienna 10 (Dr. Ute-Maria Oberreiter), Austria
