Insulting a reliable source of Jesus story
Some would ask why Muslims show so much respect for the Qur’an. The answer is known to everyone who had spent some time reading through its chapters. For example, Christians who read the Qur’an and explore the story of Jesus know how much Muslims share with them the love and respect for Jesus.
To be a Muslim, it is obligatory to believe in prophets sent by God to guide humanity. Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad are the prophets (peace be upon them all) recognized by Muslims as deserving respect and appreciation. These prophets submitted their will to God, and followers of these prophets submit their will to God as well.
In Arabic, the word Islam means submission, and therefore Muslim means one who submits. So any Muslim can be described as the submitter to the will of God, and the follower of the prophets who submitted to the will of God.
Pastor Terry Jones said he did not read the Qur’an! If he did then he wouldn’t burn a book that values the role of Jesus in guiding humanity. He wouldn’t burn a book that mentions Jesus 25 times whereas the Prophet Muhammad is mentioned four times only.
He wouldn’t burn a book that mentions the story of Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, and dedicates a whole chapter describing her life. He wouldn’t burn a book in which the only woman mentioned by name is the Virgin Mary. Wouldn’t it make sense to have the name of the wife or daughter of the Prophet Muhammad mentioned as well? But the fact is God wanted Christians to know that this book is sent to all humanity.
The Qur’an explains the position of Jesus to God. God says: “The similitude of Jesus before God is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: Be: and he was.” (3: 59)
In Christianity, no one claims that Adam is son of God, even though he did not have a father or mother. And that’s why Qur’an lays emphasis on the creation of Adam and compared it to the creation of Jesus. As a matter of fact, Adam too is mentioned 25 times in the Qur’an. God is telling us by numbers that Adam and Jesus are equal in creation.
