I embraced Islam about half a year ago. I'm very happy with all the changes in my life, that occured after having reverted, but I haven't been "registered" yet officially as a muslim. As I want to be a teacher on day, there is a big problem I face: Germany is not very tolerant towards muslim teachers, thus, it is very unlikely for me to get a job one day. I want to ask you now, if it is possible to hide my muslim faith, until I have my job? Can I practice it in private without telling it any governmental authorities?
We put this question to Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen, may Allaah preserve him, who answered as follows: He does not have to tell them about his being Muslim, and there is nothing wrong with him concealing his religion if he is afraid for himself. And Allaah knows best.
