Default ...Old Testament vs New Testament....

You can feel differences between two things by comparison. We all know that what human does is always is imperfect and lacks accuracy. The consequences are hazardous when man tries to re-do or revive what Allah Almighty had done. The same thing is exactly right for the Bible. Myriad misunderstandings and misinterpretations in the Bible, of course human being is very incapable to handle such a work, writing a book of religion, That is what we get when we had lousy editors and writers who had never seen Jesus in their whole lives. Since human being is known for being in-accurate and incompetence for hard works (like making a huge book), the result is book full of contradictions. Christians can change the meanings and satisfy themselves, but still the verses contradict each other at the first reading in addition to their meanings. New International Version Jeremiah 8:8 "'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?

To say I am disappointed by this thread is rather an understatement. How would you feel if I copy and pasted a list of the contradictions found in the Quran? Oh wait... Of course if I made such a post it would likely not be posted on open forum but consigned instead to the moderators cutting room floor. Because freedom of speech I see does not cut both ways here. Your list of "supposed contradictions" are not worthy of note and so I will not respond. It beggars belief that you use Jeremiah 8:8 the old favourite example misused by muslims in order to claim the Bible has been changed. It saddens me that you cannot even be bothered to take the time to understand what Jeremiah 8:8 actually refers to, so eager are you to see at first glance it appears to offer you the proof you so desperately seek... For what reason I fail to understand.. And if I live to be a hundred I doubt I will ever understand the muslims constant need to tear down the previous scriptures... May hap you could tell me, then I can one day die happy mystery solved.. I offer an explanation on Jeremiah 8:8 and I hope you will take the time to read it.. As you took the time to copy and paste your "contradictions" or if you read them up yourself .. Even more time.....

    ■ Jeremiah 8:8: Is the Bible corrupted?

Many Muslims claim that the Bible is corrupted and some refer to the following verse:

"'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? (Jeremiah 8:8)

    1. Wise men who are not so wise
"We are wise” is connected with educated people, the learned elite, who made their own explanation of the written Law of Moses instead of following the written Law of Moses in the book Deuteronomy. The wise people who are not so wise had therefore a false possession of their interpretation of the Law of Moses [1]. Jeremiah is addressing the priests and false prophets. He accused them many times that they were destroying the country with their actions (Jeremiah 2:8, 26; Jeremiah 4:9; Jeremiah 5:31; Jeremiah 8:10).

    2. False interpretation of the Scriptures
"The lying pen of the scribes" refers to the writers who tried to describe the Law of Moses in international acceptable wisdom. In fact the scribes tried to change the faith in the Most High into a human tradition [2]. “Scribes” is in Hebrew Soferim, it are all those who practiced the art of writing. They are therefore, if not all, of the priests and false prophets of whom Jeremiah speaks. The interpreters of the Scriptures called scribes have, by their false comments and inferences, made the Scriptures, including the Law of Moses into a lie, so that it has ceased to represent the divine will and teaching [3].
Next verse, Jeremiah 8:9 shows that the wise men will be very ashamed.
The contrast is between the written and oral Law of Moses. The oral explanation of the Law of Moses was done by scribes and educated and intelligent men, who changed the written Law of Moses according to the book Deuteronomy. Jeremiah attacks the false wisdom [4].

    3. Conclusion
After a review of the Gospel verse the conclusion can be drawn that Jeremiah 8:8 does not say that the Bible was corrupted, but that false written commentaries were distributed about the Scriptures. The prophet Jeremiah warned not to follow false teachings.

    http://www.ibnzura.com/answer.php?la...ble_corrupted?

in fact if you read further into Jeremiah you will gain greater understanding of what this text means... But that is only if you wish to know in truth, if it suits you to wilfully misquote and misrepresent bible verses in such ways then of course you are free to do so. I don't know why.. I thought you were a better person than this.

    May God bless you.

How would you feel if I copy and pasted a list of the contradictions found in the Quran? Oh wait... Of course if I made such a post it would likely not be posted on open forum but consigned instead to the moderators cutting room floor. Because freedom of speech I see does not cut both ways here.

If we say that I "misunderstood" the Jeremiah 8:8 and there are different interpretations of this verse. But what about other verses, that many apparently contradict each other?
It is very easy to notice the contradiction of the verses, and can not be covered with excuses like (misunderstanding)

Lot committed incest with his two daughters. Gen.19:30-38.
    Lot was a righteous man. 2 Pet.2:7,8.

God promises Abraham the land of Canaan. Gen.17:8.
Abraham died without gaining the promise. Acts 7:2-5; Heb.11:8,13.

in fact if you read further into Jeremiah you will gain greater understanding of what this text means... But that is only if you wish to know in truth, if it suits you to wilfully misquote and misrepresent bible verses in such ways then of course you are free to do so. I don't know why.. I thought you were a better person than this.

Though both (James and Rom) are of New Testament, but we have a very clear contradiction:

Are you justified by faith or work:

"because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight . . . " (Rom. 3:20
"because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight . . . " (Rom. 3:20)
"for we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law," (Rom. 3:28)
"For what does the Scripture say? ‘And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness'" (Rom. 4:3)
    "Therefore, having been justified by faith . . . " (Rom. 5:1)
"But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness" (Rom. 4:5).

    In James it says,
"You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone," (James 2:24)
. . . so also faith without works is dead," (James 2:26).

As we can see not all the contradictions can be solved through interpretations and explanations.

    Peace be upon you.
