The people around him graduallydeveloped a lust for the things taken in battle, including materialcomforts and captured women and children.

First : the nameof the source is ibn hisham not ibn ishaq , this is a book by ibnhisham recounting what ibn ishaq wrote

Third; thenarration recounts the fact that muslim s were tortured, exiled,killed and persecuted which is why the revelation was revieled ,which by the way did not mention attacking carvans but the verse gavethe prophet and the believers the right to defend themselves becausethey were persecuted :


Permission[to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because theywere wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.
[Theyare] those who have been evicted from their homes without right -only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were itnot that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, therewould have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, andmosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned.
