[ the word may have originally read אשרה (asherah), where the resh (ר) and the hé (ה) were misread as daleth (ד) and taw (ת) ]

what is the meaning of the word אֵשְׁדָּת " eshdat "?????


the meaning is uncertain of course





Adam Clarke - interpreter of the Bible - says :



That, though דת dath signifies a law, yet it is a Chaldee term, and appears nowhere in any part of the sacred writings previously to the Babylonish captivity
