Yah - The Moon
A good reference for the meaning of the word Yah is A Dictionary of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses, George Hart, 1986, p225-226. Here is an extract:
In its earliest manifestations the name Yah refers to the Moon... a lunar deity comparable to the other moon deities Thoth and Khonsu.... The zenith of Yah's popularity lay in the period when immigration from the Levant was high... it is during this period, within the Thebian royal family, that there is a definite inclination for names involving the moon God Yah.
The primary meaning of the symbol of the Moon occurs in relation to beliefs about Osiris and the Resurrection of Dead. The following extracts are taken from a section headed Osiris As A Moon-God in Osiris and the Egyptian Resurrection by Wallis Budge. The important reference to rising from the dead "on the third day" is the probable origin of similar beliefs in Christian theology.

It is certain that just as at one time the star Orion was regarded as his abode in the sky, and Sothis that of isis, so at one period Osiris was identified with the moon. This fact was well known to Plutarch, who says that on the new moon of the month of Phamenoth, which falls in the beginning of the spring, the Egyptians celebrate a festival which is expressly called by them "the Entrance of Osiris into the Moon".
"I will arrange for you to go the the river when you die, and to come to life again on the third day."

"All people will die, and the moon alone will return to life." This is why the dead do not return, and why the moon reappears after three days' absence.
