I always believed Islam is an Arabic religion, because everything is in Arabic. Islam's prophet is Arabic; he received the Quran in Arabic. You must visit an Arabic country. You must learn be able to recite the shahada in Arabic and understand how to read in Arabic. I see more universality in the Bible. Jesus died for all sin past, present and future. You don't have to follow a bunch of legalistic rules or pray as certain amount of times in a certain direction or visit a certain country or be circumcised or abstain from wine. Jesus drank wine and turned water to wine. Those who follow these legalistic rules and things have severed themselves from Christ and God. It is depending on the arm of the flesh while giving the appearance it is not. God's only law is to love Him with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves even if he is an enemy. But even if we live a clean life this could never be enough to get us right with God. Saying we must do this and that to please God is legalism. This is what the religious leaders put on people and Jesus condemned them for it.
Sure it is easy to join any religion; it is easy to kill yourself too. All religions and cults will tell you to watch out for the word but, but sometimes that word can save your life from spiritual death especially if it leads you to the truth who is a person. Jesus said, "I am the truth..." He wasn't kidding when He said "No one comes to God except through Me" Some religion play down what Jesus said by saying He was the truth for his time as Moses was for his and so on. That is deception because Jesus said I am not I show. Jesus said many false prophets would come after Him and do signs and wonders to deceive even if possible the very elect. So anyone that tells you Jesus is not the only way is a deceiver even if he is your friend or family Jer sums it up:
They bend their tongue like a bow;
falsehood and not truth has grown strong[c] in the land;
for they proceed from evil to evil,
and they do not know me, declares the Lord.
