A Brief Description of the Question:
What is the wisdom behind the creation of Jesus (pbuh) without a father?


The Answer:
Man has not seen his creation, which is the most interesting event in the history of mankind. Nobody saw the first man, who was created without a mother or father. When so many centuries passed after this event, the wisdom of God willed to display another extraordinary event with the creation of Jesus (pbuh) without a father. This birth is contrary to the rules of reproduction, which have been valid on earth since the creation of man.
The aim is to make man witness this wonder and to make it exist in the history of man as a remarkable event. God wanted to show man, who was not able to concentrate on the first miracle of creation, a miracle that would never be deleted from his memory.

According to the law of God that enables the maintenance of the species, all of the species, without any exceptions, reproduce through the insemination of the female by the male. In the living species in which the gender cannot be discerned clearly, we see that there are even cells of both masculinity and femininity together in the same individual. Due to the operation of this law for centuries, man believed that it was the only way of reproduction. Believing like that, man forgot the first creation, the creation out of nothing. For, this event was contrary to the rigid perceptions of the minds. Therefore, God wanted to show man the example of Jesus (pbuh). Through this example, God wanted to show the limitlessness of His power, the freedom of His will and that this power and will cannot be limited with the natural laws that operate based on His own reference.
Another example like the birth of Jesus (pbuh) was not seen after that because what is normal is the operation of the laws imposed by God and the natural laws preferred by God. This unique incident, whose aim is to prove actually that the freedom of the divine will is not restricted to the natural laws, was seen sufficient as a manifest example that will always be in front of the eyes of people. As a matter of fact, God states the following about the wisdom behind the creation of Jesus (pbuh) without a father:

He said: ‘So (it will be)’: thy Lord saith `That is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': it is a matter (so) decreed. (Maryam, 19/21)

Since the incident was very astonishing and extraordinary, some people could not understand it as it was and could not perceive the wisdom behind it. Therefore, they attributed some qualities of divinity to Jesus and they invented various superstitions and tales regarding his death. Thus, they reversed the wisdom behind his incredible creation without a father. The wisdom behind his creation without a father was, as we have mentioned above, to prove the limitlessness of the divine power. The people who attributed divinity to him reversed this wisdom and damaged the belief in the oneness of God.
This striking and extraordinary incident is narrated in the verses 16-34 of the chapter of Maryam in the Quran.

Some cannot comprehend Jesus (PBUH) being born without a father. How can we make an explanation for them?

One of the points which most people wonder about is Jesus Christs having been born without a father. Some cannot comprehend this.

Here what misleads us is our perspective. We usually make a comparison considering that deeds of Allah and those of us are similar. We must know that the word of be is enough for Allah to make something happen for the things, which are impossible for us to do. That Allahs commanding, Be is enough for the things to be, which are impossible for us to do. Not only was Jesus Christ (PBUH) born without a father. There are many examples like this in the world of the living beings. Bees are only one of these examples.

As known, there is a queen bee in each beehive. Once in her life, she goes out flying for a mating. During this flying, she mates with the speediest male bee; and the sperm (male reproductive cells) she gets from him is stored in a sac. After she returns to the hive, she starts to produce eggs. Eggs pass by the sac in which there are sperms. At this moment, the sperms fertilized some eggs. Some come out of the eggs even without fertilization. Female bees come out from the fertilized eggs and male bees from the ones, which have not been fertilized. We call this kind of reproduction Parthenogenesis reproduction in biology.

If we deny the birth of Jesus Christ without a father by saying we cannot comprehend it, how can we explain the birth of billions of male bees without a father each year?

Another example is aphids. These insects, which live on sucking sap from the leaves and buds of some plants in the spring, produce young ones without mating (namely without father). All of these young ones are female. Insects, which mate with males in the autumn, do not produce young ones but they produce eggs. In the spring, young female ones come out from these fertilized eggs. Males come into existence only in the autumn.

Daphnis also show parthenogenesis (namely without father) reproduction in a certain season. Young ones come out from the eggs, which are unfertilized.

As seen above, both aphids and daphnia reproductions without father are not constant. They occur only in certain seasons. That is to say, Allah Almighty indirectly says, I am able to change the law of reproduction with my wisdom whenever I wish. I am able to create living beings without a father as well as with father. Let causes not mislead you.

It is possible to increase the examples more. Ants, itch mites, and some of worms reproduce asexually by parthenogenesis (without father).

Our parents are just causes for our coming to the world. Do they have any other role apart from this? For example, is it our mother or father who has given our eyes and hands? Moreover, where do we have our spiritual tools such as mind, memory, imagination, hate, compassion? Let us consider our body, which takes its present form by first growing out of a single cell. Who is that owner of power who has made this marvelous building from a single cell?

Since we exist, cannot deny ourselves, and were created from a single cell, how is it that the owner of knowledge and power cannot create us without father and mother? Is it not Him Who created our mother and father too. The laws of reproduction in the world do not have necessarily take place by means of a male and a female. Bacteria reproduce as rapidly within a few hours as to see their several previous generations. Nevertheless, there is neither father nor mother available. A bacterium divides into two and there appear two bacteria.

On the other hand, one must not forget that the first creation of millions of kinds of plants became without mother and father.

There might be an exception for every law. As an exception to the law of coming to the world by means of mother and father, Jesus (PBUH) was created. This is a testing for human beings. The Divine Wisdom wished so. Jesus (PBUH) is among the great prophets. The miracles, which were given to the prophets by Allah (SWT), were the same kind as what their contemporaries were advanced. Since at the time of Jesus (PBUH) medicine was popular and his creation became in a fatherless way that astonished and still astonishes the medical professionals; and he continued with his miracles such as resuscitating the dead.

That Jesus Christ (PBUH) was without a father neither brings deficiency into Allah Almightys power nor a decrease to His knowledge. On the contrary, it shows that He can create anybody in a way He wishes. With this incident, He warns us not to be drowned in the causes. He shows that parents are only causes, and, if His wisdom requires, He is able to create human beings and even all beings without parents as well.

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking why Jesus alone was created this way? There is no question that God is capable of creating anyone or anything in any manner God would wish. Behind every action of God there is a reason and that is the point you need to understand not the How... But the Why...

Do you see the creation of Adam as the same or greater than that of Jesus?

Do you believe that Adam having no parents somehow makes his creation more miraculous than that of Jesus?

Do you ask why was The birth of Jesus was ordained by God in such a way? Such as to make Jesus unique amongst mankind..

The Quran touches on this uniqueness but does not elaborate the upon the reason... Other than maybe the virgin birth was proof of Gods miraculous powers.. Proof for whom? Mankind had been witnessing miracles from God from eternity, mankind was already aware of the power and glory of the One true God. So that reasoning is rather weak. It's from such reasoning or maybe poor interpretation that you as a Muslim know very little of Jesus or His mission. Or maybe you can tell me in simple terms what you take as the meaning from the Quran of the need for Jesus to be born in such a manner. As God if He so willed could have created Jesus as fully man as Adam..without recourse to any parents... For this we know is not beyond the power of God. The Bible explains why Jesus needed to be born thus... And also why Adam and Jesus are intrinsically linked above other prophets.

are you still so blind that you cannot see the necessity in this miraculous birth? Damaged the oneness of God!!! I do think you or the author have lost your senses. Yet your first post is marginally less insulting to The Lord Jesus than your second post.. Which likens the miraculous birth to the reproduction of bees! Bees having fathers... Dear heart... I don't think you are interested in explanations. :) how you view Christ His birth or whatever else does not impact on me at all, and I respect your right to hold the beliefs you have.. Even though I believe them to be in error and may indeed place you in a possible dark place.. But hey you see the same of my beliefs.. As that's the way the cookie crumbles as they say. :) however, what does impact on me is your inability to understand that my beliefs are as valid in my eyes as yours are to you. Even when a Christian explains why we believe as we do.. You insist we believe something different and you constantly commit blasphemy by claiming God had a "Son" in Jesus,. So, yes.. This does bother me but, more worryingly it should bother you more that you commit this blasphemy with impunity and not wonder of any consequences to yourselves.

Why the Quran borrows imperfectly the account of the virgin birth I do not understand, because it dies not explain the necessity behind it and so leaves you with a conundrum and having to explain it away as some kind of proof of Gods miraculous powers directed at...??? Stiff necked..hard hearted Jews?? WHY? God had been sharing His miraculous powers and wonders directly and through His prophets since time began.. Do you think that the Jews.. Even the stiff necked ones.. Had not understood the power of God? Or even how their lack of understanding or acceptance would impact on God at all? Does God supreme power and creator crave the acceptance and approval of His creation? A nonsense .. God exists weather we acknowledge His greatness or not God does not need us... I will explain how a Christian views the virgin birth and the reason we understand the necessity for it. It will make no difference to you and I'm sure you will likely dismiss it with the usual rudeness or ignore it totally that is your choice. As I say your stance does not impact upon my person... When God created Adam from dust.. Or clay whichever view to take. Adam was meant to represent the perfect human.. Made in Gods image to commune with God, take in mind any being in order to commune with God has to be by nature sinless as any sin is an anathema to a Holy God. However, Adam fell into sin.. The Bible and Quran both attest to this fact. Once sin was introduced to mankind through Adams disobedience then it was no longer possible for mankind to fulfil the role set out.. That being communion with a Holy God. You believe that God simply forgave Adam and he went forth to populate the earth. Here we see the consequence of sin differently. Christians believe that sin cannot be viewed so lightly and every sin carries a penalty which must be paid. God can't just arbitrarily forgive a sin without a penalty being paid. Adams penalty was to be banished to live out a life of toil for an allotted time which would end in death. We can never do enough by our own actions to pay this penalty because we need God to pay on our behalf, because only a Holy God can make us sinless and only by becoming sinless can we by Gods grace achieve paradise and community with God.

Jesus was the solution, Jesus is the last Adam.. Because Jesus is what Adam was meant to be a sinless being, and as such was the means we can achieve righteousness and stand before a Holy God. As Adams sin sold us into the bondage of a sinful nature Jesus gave us the gift of spiritual eternal life through His selfless sacrifice. Without Jesus we are dead in our sins.

Adam was created with no parents because he was the first being and until Eve was given in companionship human reproduction was not decreed. Once they were banished to earthly life and told to populate the earth.. Then we have human reproduction and from then all humans are born this way. Jesus, Gods Word, had to be born through a woman... Which makes Jesus fully Human.. Yet as Gods Word is essence of God then that Word is sinless as God is sinless.. Both the Bible and Quran claim Jesus as Gods Word and also attest to His sinless nature. God caused Mary to become pregnant with Jesus. Again both the Quran and Bible attest to this fact. God determined some of the physical characteristics of Jesus. All of the genetic characteristics of Jesus were determined by just two parties: God and Mary. On this basis I do not see where muslims have a problem with the nature of Christ, unless it is your belief that all this can only come about by a physical act between God and Mary.. (May God forgive my words, and may He see I mean no blasphemy by them) as it's been said many times this is only found in the Quran and no where in the Bible or Jewish scriptures has it ever been implied that any physical act was necessary. So no Christians or Jews (goes without saying) would ever have held such a point of view.. Indeed if they had it would have been contrary to their scriptures.
So, other than Jesus ... The last Adam..correcting the error of the the first Adam, who allowed a sinful nature to enter into mankind separating us from our Holy God.. When we die we die for eternity. By Jesus's sacrifice on the cross (through Gods will) the we are granted the chance of eternal life. The creation of Adam and Jesus have nothing in common other than they were both ordained by God.

I can give you a selection of biblical verses that point to the reasons for the birth and the nature of The Christ but I don't see the point. I have probably wasted enough time as it is :) so there it is.. My explanation of my belief as I see it.. I do not expect you to understand it or for sure see the truth of it... However your lack of understanding or open minded ness does not in any way detract from my belief as truth. As my belief is mine and yours is yours and on this point we are free to agree to disagree with respect and cordiality.

There was no "birth" of Adam. Adam was created as fully man in Gods image by Gods will. Jesus was created by God THROUGH humanity.. That is born of a woman. It's not about which miracle was the greater.. As miracles go they are equal they are both from God.

The "miracle" is the reason why God decreed Jesus be born this way, when He could just have easily been created as fully man from dust or clay as Adam was.. The miracle being just as God knows our sinful nature He does not forsake us His creation.

why would you say this? I stand by my words as truth as I understand them to be. Just because you cannot see the miracle BEHIND the virgin birth, not the event itself... Because even muslims accept the birth of Jesus as a miracle. You just do not see the necessity. The fact that you do not understand or choose not to believe does not mean my words are untrue.

do you mean why do people convert to other religions? Why would they not? Christians may convert to Islam like muslims may convert to Christianity and the same goes for any religious belief. Some may even leave religion altogether and forsake God completely. None of that is important or will make any difference in the grand scheme of things. We live.. We die.. The only constant unchanging factor is God. The only time we will ever have certainty is at judgement until that time we tread the path we choose in the hope and belief it leads us back to God. As a Christian I am guided by the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

I am not bothered by that at all. It's not my aim to convince you of anything. I only seek to make you understand that you are wasting your time with refutes, because the refutes are weak and based on your misunderstanding... Not you personally..just Muslim refutes in general. Again, I am not bothered by this as it does not impact upon my person if others believe as I do or not. The convincing of others in matters of faith are in the remit of God alone. What pure arrogance it would be to seek to change the mind set and turn a person from their belief. Imagine if you are wrong in your belief... You could be responsible for the eternal loss of a soul to God!!! God gave us through His supreme majesty and grace the freedom to choose our path to His divine love... I am not sure what you mean by "prompt researcher on the right" I am taking it that you feel you do research and this proves you to be right. In your mind you probably are, but what use in trying to convince yourself or other muslims of the truth of Islam? Where is the benefit? I stand by what I say.. As a Christian who is part of the living gospel that is Christ Jesus your refutes are weak and based on misunderstandings. You hold up "scholars" like Zakir Naik who many muslims do not hold in very high esteem... And you expect Christians to take such evidence seriously!!

Its not not that you should do better in your efforts of Dawah... But rather question why you bother at all, what is to be gained?

Forever with the insults.. It is not becoming of you.

If by interfaith dialogue you seek to destroy the beliefs of someone who believes different to yourself and persuade them to accept your view as truth.. Then for sure, I do see that as time wasting, counterproductive and kinda of unethical.

If you wish enter into dialogue as a means of learning of the faith of others then I see that as a good thing. Not to persuade or cajole but in order to better understand another's point of view of the same God we share. Because I believe better understanding leads to a peaceful coexistence .. Surely that is a good thing.

If you hold to the former then I see no point in any kind of dialogue with you.. As it will go nowhere.
