hello jenn i hope that i didnt say anything that is annoying to you i am sorry if you disunderstand me i only want to know more about christianity from an ordinary christian i hope to hear from you soon

Oh no friend you didn't say anything to annoy me or offend me. I am not on facebook everyday so excuse my late reply. I would love to visit Egypt again someday it was a very interesting place.
I worship Jesus Christ, His Father, and His Holy Spirit. Also known as the trinity. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins to redeem us from this fallen world. I believe that He is living and active in my life and the lives of others. I believe that the Holy Spirit (or Spirit of God) came at Pentecost (which was sometime after Jesus' death and resurrection) and dwells in us who believe. It is the Holy Spirit that sanctifies us and also leads us in righteousness. I believe that Jesus Christ will return to judge the earth.
To answer your question about some of His characteristics: He is abounding in love, gracious (full of grace), merciful, always patient, always kind, always forgiving, He is just, He never fails, He never forgets us, He never leaves us, He is always faithful, always constant.
He is a Judge, He is a Son, He is a Father, He is a Bridegroom, He is jealous for our hearts, He is Love, He is the great I am, Everything good comes from Him.
I do believe that Jesus will come to judge the earth but I believe that He is withholding until the time of the greatest wickedness in order to save many. He desires that all will be saved. So He is patient and He waits to judge. His mercy lasts forever. It is in His mercy that He will judge wickedness in order to defend His beloved ones.
Friend, I know we have a little bit of a language barrier so please let me know if any of this doesn't make sense to you.
I pray that you are blessed and that you will be given ears to hear and eyes to see and understand

okey my friend firstly i am good in understanding english but i am not very good in expressing my thoughts in english so dont worry i can understand your english well. secondly i have many questions about your answer please dont be annoyed from me. firstly i am a muslim and i would like to know what is your feelings about islam or muslims .secondly i agree with you about the characteristics of the god (allah as we said)but how a very powerful god dies and you said that he is the father and the son and the holy spirit how could anyone be three at one time? .okey these questions are enough for now. please forgive me if you saw that i said something annoying to you mohamed

I am glad that you understand english well friend! I don't understand any Arabic at all. Please don't worry about annoying me. You can ask me whatever you like. If I don't wish to answer than I won't =-)
I would say that my feelings about Islam are the same way that I feel about anyone who does not believe in Jesus Christ as their saviour. I love muslims and hope that they would know Christ as their saviour. In our bible it says that the Only way to the Father is through the Son. And that is what I believe. I believe that the only way you can receive eternal life is by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for you.
Ok, so as far as the trinity. First, you must understand that even christians have a hard time understanding this concept. But God is mysterious and His ways are not like ours. His ways are far above our ways. But one way to think about it is like this: Do you have an earthly father? Is He also a Son? Is he a brother? Is he a husband?
Or You can think of it like this: It is kind of like water, ice and steam They are all the same thing but come it different forms.
I know that it is also hard to understand how a powerful God who created the universe would send His Son as a human to die for our sins. It is very hard to receive. Which is actually the point. It is not meant to be easily received. It was Father God's act of love. His greatest act of love. It was also God showing us how to live in this world. As a Servant. As one who is willing to sacrifice His own Son for another. Christ walked humbly on this earth. He walked among the very ones who He created and they didn't claim Him. Yet He did not smote them instead He allowed them to kill Him in order that many prophecies would be fulfilled and in order that He would create a way for us to be in relationship with God.

Okey my friend if Allah or god really love us why he made understanding the trinity(himself) so hard .by the way we as muslims we must believe in Jesus but as a prophet from Allah not his son .and when i asked you about muslims i want to know from you what do you know about islam? what is our faith ?.i hope that you are not from people who are knowing about islam from islam haters or from the actions of some muslims who don't represent islam . and the last thing what is this terrible mistake we had done to make god send his son to die ?

In our bible it says that the Only way to the Father is through the Son. And that is what I believe. I believe that the only way you can receive eternal life is by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for you
I can uderstand from your words that you belive
that the only way a person can get saved and go to Heaven is to believe and accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior who died for him on the cross to purify him from his sins. Anyone who doesn't believe in this would not be saved.
so if you don't mind let us discuss what the bible say about that
and my question will be what must I do to inherit eternal life?
Jesus said: loving GOD Almighty so much and being nice to your neighbors will cause you to have eternal life:
Luke 10
25. On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26. "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"
27. He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "
28. "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."
Notice that the man's question was straight forward
No other question can be more straight forward than this. Notice how Jesus answered this straight forward question: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart......and love your neighbor as yourself......Do this and you will live."
Notice that Jesus didn't talk about any trinity-lie concept, nor did he say to the man that he must accept Jesus as a mediator between him and GOD Almighty to win Eternal Life. Jesus was pretty clear and straight forward here: LOVE GOD ALMIGHTY AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBORS AS YOURSELF. That is simply all there is to it to win eternal life in Jesus' standards.
It certainly wasn't necessary for the man who asked the question to believe in trinity in order for him to be saved. Jesus assured him Paradise if he believed otherwise
Here is another incident where Jesus was asked the same exact question by another person:
Luke 18
18. A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
19. "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.
20. You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.' "
21. "All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.
22. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
23. When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.
24. Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
25. Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
26. Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?"
27. Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."
28. Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"
29. "I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God
30. will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life."
Again, we see in Luke 18:18 above, the same exact question was asked to Jesus for the second time on a different occasion
so as you can see from the texts above that the bible didn't say that the Only way to the Father is through the Son
sorry i just can't understand thatاقتباس:

why would God need to kill his son ?
what kind of love is that ?
why can't he just forgive our sins by his mercy ?
you know that God is great and thier is no one above him to prevent him from forgiving our sinsso i just want you to read those texts from the Old Testament if you don't mind
Ezekiel 18 -New International Version
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...18&version=NIV
26 If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, he will die for it; because of the sin he has committed he will die. 27 But if a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life. 28 Because he considers all the offenses he has committed and turns away from them, he will surely live; he will not die.
Deuteronomy 24 - New International Version
16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.
Ezekiel 18 - American Standard Version
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...18&version=ASV
2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
3 As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die
Ezekiel 18 -New International Version
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...18&version=NIV
14 "But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things:
15 "He does not eat at the mountain shrines
or look to the idols of the house of Israel.
He does not defile his neighbor's wife.
16 He does not oppress anyone
or require a pledge for a loan.
He does not commit robbery
but gives his food to the hungry
and provides clothing for the naked.
17 He withholds his hand from sin [c]
and takes no usury or excessive interest.
He keeps my laws and follows my decrees.
He will not die for his father's sin; he will surely live. 18 But his father will die for his own sin, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people.
19 "Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live.

It is the glory of God to hide a matter and the glory of kings to search it out Proverbs 25 verse 2 from the Bible. That is all I can really say to explain your first question. It is not unkind or unloving that the trinity is not easy to understand it is actually glorious. We have our whole lives and all of eternity to understand the trinity and to understand God. It is a relationship. When you begin a relationship with someone it takes time to learn and understand everything about them. It is similar with God...except He is unsearchable. So we can enjoy searching out all His wonders for eternity.
I only know very basic things about Islam. I know that you believe that Mohammad was a prophet from God. I know that you do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. I know that muslims follow the Quran which was written by Mohammad (if I am understanding that correctly). I know that muslims believe in Sharia law which I think is governmental as well as religious. I don't really know all the details of Islam but have learned about it some at school.
I am not an Islam hater. I certainly do not judge islam based on particular actions of some. It is not mine to judge. As I explained before my desire is for everyone to know Jesus as their savior. Whether they are an american, an australian, jewish, or islamic.
To briefly answer your last question, there was a fall that happened along time ago. The fall of man happened in the Garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve chose to disobey God by choosing to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they opened the door to sin. So sin entered the world. Now when we are born we are born as sinners. We choose wickedness and sin naturally out of our fallen nature. But God had a plan. He first sent the law to Moses to show us how to live. Then He sent His Son to die for our sins. So that we could always go throught the Son to the Father. Then He sent His Holy Spirit to live in us and to enable us to live righteously, according to the way He calls us to live. Our instructions on how to live is the bible in its wholeness.
That last question was a very big one. I could explain alot more about sin and why we needed a savior. So please feel free to ask more questions if that doesn't make sense. Really that is the crux of what we have to understand before we can know the Lord. We have to know that we are in need of Him...that we need a saviour. We have to be poor in spirit, realizing our lack and knowing our need.
I personally came to Christ after a life of sin. I tried to live right. I tried to make myself happy. But it just was not possible apart from Jesus. I have never been happier in my life and my circumstances do not speak to it. I am not living "the american dream life". Like some desire here. But I am enjoying life more than ever before because I have one to lean on and one to run to and one to strengthen me when I am weak.

انا رديت عليها وقلت sorry for being late but i want to consider carefully.i am only 20 years old and i know many things about Islam but not all things so i will ask who knows more than me to reply to you and i sware with Allah that i am searching about truth and i think from your way in speaking that you are searcher for truth too.first thing please don't say mohammed when you talk about the prophet mohammed peace be upon him.say the prophet of islam . i mean please don't mention his name as if he was an ordinary man.by the way when we say eisa (jesus as you said ) we also say prophet eisa peace be upon him .we respect all prophets and who don't respect them can't be a muslim .our prophet mohammed peace be upon him couldn't read and couldn't write .allah sent the angel gebril with the quran on the heart of our prophet mohammed peace be upon him many times .i mean the quran wasn't sent from allah to prophet mohammed peace be upon him in one time .no it was sent in many times .every time was a different situation .the writers of holly quran are the Companionship of our prophet peace be upon him the quran had reached us by hearing and writing and allah says that he is the sender of quran and he will guard it . you said that prophet adam peace be upon him and his wife peace be upon her made a mistake by eating from this tree .what is our fault what is our mistake .if my father did a mistake what is my fault ?and where will the people before coming of jesus go heaven or paradise ?among them there were many prophets they will be in hell or paradise. i am sorry for saying that but i found it very hard to be understood . i think you just believe in it with your emotions .excuse me for my bad english .that is the best i can write and please notice that there are many ideas in my head i can't tell you about it in english .last thing ask me about any thing in islam and i will ask you about christianity and let us answering each other .i hope to hear from you soon

Hey friend, Ok here is my first question. What do you consider a prophet? Is it a messenger from God? What is your definition of prophet? That would help me understand a little I think.
To answer your question about Adam and Eve, they disobeyed God and allowed sin to enter the world. After them, everyone who is born sins naturally. We, as christians, live by a moral code. This helps us to understand what sin is. The bible is the guide to that moral code. The first set of laws that were sent to us are called the Ten Commandments:
1.You shall have no other gods before me
2. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down and worship them. for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments
3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name
4.Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy
5. Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord is giving you
6. You shall not murder
7. You shall not commit adultery
8. You shall not steal
9. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house/wife/ox/or anything that belongs to your neighbor
These laws were just meant to be a guideline of how to live. When Jesus came things changed a little bit related to the ten commandments. I can explain more of that if you would like to know.
I was wondering, do you also have a set of guidelines to help you live righteously? How do you know if you are in good standing with the Lord? How do you know if you will go to heaven? Do you believe in heaven and hell?
Oh, to answer your other question about the people and prophets before Jesus came: I believe that the Lord will give everyone who has ever lived the opportunity to know Him. There is a scripture in our bible that actually says that Jesus went down to hell to preach to those who died before he came. 1Peter3v18-19
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built...
A prophet is a man sent by God to guide people to God's path; to worship God as He likes; to know Him...
A prophet sent by God supported with miracles to be believed in.
A prophet can never utter a word unless the word was revealed to him from God...
Let the Bible speak
Ge 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God said before Adam's creation " let us" whish refared to future, i.e. He had not created him yet...
Then He said " So God created man" which refared to the past, i.e. after Adams' creation ....
so according to the verses Adam and Eve were created to live on the earth not the heaven and they committed a sin, then they asked for forgiveness, consequently, God forgave them.
They went down to the earth as it was the natural place to live on- as God created them to live on
So what was the problem????
Let's see:
What you said is against the Bible
Let the bible speak
De 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Which clearly shows that The old testament is against the sin inheritance, as a result there was nothing called "born sins naturally" !!!
The Holy Quran and the correct Hadith are our guide to God's path!!!
The Holy Quran and Hadith organizes the our whole life starting with how to worship God; discipline your needs and instincts; deal with parents, neighbours, wives, enemies...etc.
A few examples:
In Quran the true meaning of righteousness
2|177|It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the Prophets; and giveth his wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the God fearing.
In Quran what God bans us to do
6|151|Say: Come, I will recite unto you that which your Lord hath made a sacred duty for you: that ye ascribe no thing as partner unto Him and that ye do good to parents, and that ye slay not your children because of penury--We provide for you and for them--and that ye draw not nigh to lewd things whether open or concealed. And that ye slay not the life which Allah hath made sacred, save in the course of justice. This He hath commanded you, in order that ye may discern.
6|152|And approach not the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better; till he reach maturity. Give full measure and full weight, in justice. We task not any soul beyond its scope. And if ye give your word, do justice thereunto, even though it be (against) a kinsman; and fulfil the covenant of Allah. This He commandeth you that haply ye may remember.
6|153|And (He commandeth you, saying) : This is My straight path, so follow it Follow not other ways, lest ye be parted from His way: This hath He ordained for you, that ye may ward off (evil).
In Quran how to deal with parents
17|23|Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them to attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word.
17|24|And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little.
compassion on wife
2|223|Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth
as ye will, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls, and fear
Allah, and know that ye will (one day) meet Him. Give glad tidings to
believers, (O Muhammad).
how to deal with your divorced women
2|231|When ye have divorced women, and they have reached their term, then retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. Retain them not to their hurt so that ye transgress (the limits). He who doeth that hath wronged his soul. Make not the revelations of Allah a laughingstock (by your behavior), but remember Allah's grace upon you and that which He hath revealed unto you of the Scripture and of wisdom, whereby He doth exhort you. Observe your duty to Allah and know that Allah is Aware of all things.
Put in mind, my decent addressee, that Islam drew a complete picture in an accurate frame giving us every thing we need about worshipping and dealing with others
Sure we do.
2|25|And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works; that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow; as often as they are regaled with food of the fruit thereof, they say: This is what was given us aforetime; and it is given to them in resemblance. There for them are pure companions; there for ever they abide.
2|39|But they who disbelieve, and deny our revelations, such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein.
My question is,
Are prophets sent by God and their followers in the prison, hellfire or the paradise now?
So, if they are in prison now, it means God is unfair !!!
As they obeyed Him and did what He ordered; and as a result both prophets and the people followed His prophets are in the prison exactly as the unbelievers!!!
But if they are in the heavens, it means that the issue of salvation from the sin is useless !!!!
So, in your point of view,
Is God unfair or the salvation story useless?!!!!
My best regards

Mankind’s need for the Messengers
Why do people need the Prophets?
Praise be to Allaah.
The Prophets are the Messengers of Allaah to His slaves; they convey His commands, and give them glad tidings of the delights that Allaah has promised them if they obey His commands, and they warn them of the abiding punishment if they go against His prohibitions. They tell them the stories of the past nations and the punishment and vengeance that befell them in this world because they disobeyed the commands of their Lord.
These divine commands and prohibitions cannot be known through independent thinking, hence Allaah has prescribed laws and enjoined commands and prohibitions, to honor mankind and protect their interests, because people may follow their desires and thus transgress the limits and abuse people and deprive them of their rights. So by His wisdom Allaah sent among them from time to time Messengers to remind them of the commands of Allaah and to warn them against failing into sin, to preach to them and to tell them the stories of those who came before them. For when people hear wondrous stories it makes their minds alert, so they understand and increase in knowledge and understand correctly. For the more people hear, the more ideas they will have; the more ideas they have, the more they will think; the more they think, the more they will know; and the more they know, the more they will do. So there is no alternative to sending Messengers in order to explain the truth. (A’laam al-Nubuwwah by ‘Ali ibn Muhammad al-Maawardi, p. 33).
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) – Ahmad ibn ‘Abd al-Haleem ibn ‘Abd al-Salaam, who is well known as Ibn Taymiyah, born in 661 AH and died in 728 AH, one of the greatest scholars of Islam who wrote many valuable books – said:
Messengership is essential to guide mankind to that which is best for them in this world and in the Hereafter. Man cannot follow what is best for him with regard to the Hereafter unless he follows the Message and he cannot be guided to what is best for him in this world unless he follows the Message. Man needs the sharee’ah because he has two motives, to bring that which will benefit him and to ward off that which will harm him. This sharee’ah is the light of Allaah on this earth, and His justice among His slaves, and the refuge which whoever enters it will be safe.
Sharee’ah does not mean distinguishing between what is beneficial and what is harmful on a physical basis, because even animals are able to do this. Donkeys and camels are able to differentiate between barley and dust. Rather the distinction is between deeds which will harm a person in this world and the Hereafter, and deeds which will benefit him in this world and in the Hereafter, such as faith, Tawheed, justice, righteousness, kindness, trustworthiness, chastity, courage, knowledge, patience, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, upholding the ties of kinship, honouring one’s parents, treating neighbours well, recognizing people’s rights, sincerely doing things for the sake of Allaah, putting one's trust in Him, seeking His help, accepting His decree, submitting to His will, believing in Him and in His Messengers in all that they have told us, and other deeds which are of benefit to a person in this world and in the Hereafter. The opposite of that leads him to misery and doom in this world and in the Hereafter.
Were it not for the Messengers, our minds could not guide us to differentiate between the beneficial and the harmful in this life in a detailed manner. One of the greatest blessings that Allaah has bestowed upon His slaves is that He sent Messengers to them and revealed books to them, and showed them the Straight Path. Were it not for that, they would have been like cattle, and even worse off. So whoever accepts the Message of Allaah and adheres to it is one of the best of mankind, and whoever rejects it and ignores it is one of the worst of mankind, even worse off than dogs and pigs, and the vilest of the vile. The people of this world could not survive except by virtue of the Messengers’ teachings, traces of which are still extant amongst them. If these traces of the Messengers vanished from the earth and their teachings were wiped out, Allaah would destroy the upper and lower realms and the Hour would begin.
The need of the people of the earth for the Messengers is not like their need for the sun, moon, wind and rain, or like a man’s need for his life, or like the eye’s need for light, or like the body’s need for food and drink. Rather it is greater than that, greater than his need for anything you could think of. The Messengers (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them) are intermediaries between Allaah and His creation, conveying His commands and prohibitions. They are ambassadors from Him to His slaves. The last and greatest of them, the noblest before his Lord, was Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, and upon all of them). Allaah sent him as a mercy to the worlds, guidance for those who want to draw closer to Allaah, proof which left no excuse for all people. He enjoined the people to obey him, love him, respect him, support him, and acknowledge his rights. Allaah took the covenant from all the Messengers and Prophets that they would believe in him and follow him, and He commanded them to take the same covenant from the believers who followed them. He sent him just before the Hour as a bringer of glad tidings and a warner, calling people to Allaah by His leave and as a brightly shining lamp. He concluded the line of Messengers with him. Through him He guided people and dispelled misguidance, taught them and dispelled ignorance. Through his Message He opened blind eyes, deaf ears and hard hearts. Through his message He filled the world with light after it had been in darkness, He brought people together after they had been divided, He straightened the crooked path of mankind and showed them the clear way. He opened his heart for him and removed from him his burden, and raised high his fame (cf. al-Sharh 94:1-3). He inflicted humiliation and shame on those who went against his command. He sent him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) at a time when there had been no Messengers for a long while and when the Books had vanished, when words had been distorted and laws changed, when all peoples referred to their own unfair opinions, developed their own ideas about Allaah and judged among people by their own corrupt ideas and whims and desires. Through him Allaah guided mankind and clarified the different means of drawing closer to Allaah. Through him, He brought the people forth from darkness into light. Through him, He differentiated between those who will prosper and those who are immoral. So whoever follows his guidance is truly guided, and whoever turns away from his path is misguided and has deviated. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon him and upon all the Messengers and Prophets.
(This list is from Wujoob al-I’tisaam bi’l-Risaalah by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him), vol. 19, p. 99-102; and from Majmoo’ al-Fataawa. See Lawaami’ al-Anwaar al-Bahiyyah, vol. 2, p. 216, 236)
We may sum up man’s need for the Messengers as follows:
1- Man is created and subjugated, and he has to know his Creator and what He wants of him, and why he was created. Man cannot come to know that independently. He has no way of finding that out except through knowing the Prophets and Messengers, and the guidance and light which they brought.
2- Man is composed of body and soul, His body is nourished by his food and drink, but the nourishment of his soul is that which was explained by its Creator, namely the true religion and righteous deeds. The Prophets and Messengers brought the true religion and taught them to do righteous deeds.
3- Man is religious by nature; he has to have a religion to follow, and this religion has to be correct. There is no way to the true religion except through believing in the Prophets and Messengers and believing in the message they brought.
4- Man needs the way through which he may attain the pleasure of Allaah in this world, and reach His Paradise and bliss in the Hereafter. No one can show these ways and guide people to them apart from the Prophets and Messengers.
5- Man is weak by nature, and there are many enemies lying in wait for him, such as the Shaytaan who wants to lead him astray and bad companions who make evil things attractive to him, and his own self which is inclined towards evil. Hence he needs something to protect himself from the plots of his enemies. The Prophets and Messengers guide him towards that and show it to him clearly.
6- Man is sociable by nature. In human meetings and interactions, there have to be laws to guide people in a fair and just manner – otherwise the law of the jungle would prevail. This guiding law must protect the rights of all those who have rights, without neglecting or exaggerating in any way. No one can produce a perfect law except the Prophets and Messengers.
7- Man needs something that will give him security and peace of mind, and guide him to the means of true happiness. This is what the Prophets and Messengers guide people towards.
