وقوبل ذلك برفض من الكنيسة التي قالت ان هذه التعاليم مخالفة لنصوص الكتاب المقدس

الي ان تم جلبه للكنيسة بواسطة محاكم التفتيش وتم محاكمته وإجباره على التخلى عن افكاره بالقوة

وكان من نتائج هذه المحاكمة سجنه مدى الحياة ، وعدم نشر كتبه وأفكاره المخالفة ، إلى ان تم تخفيف هذا الحكم عليه الي الاقامة الجبرية في منزله ، حتى ساءت حالته النفسية وتوفى وحيداً بفضل الكنيسة
