How I came to Islam by Cesar Yusuf Guardado -
I was born and raised Christian. I was 21 years old when I embraced Islam; that was back in 2010 when I took Shahada. It was a really nice experience coming to Islam and sensing all the affection from the brothers at the masjid. The masjid is the only place where I’ve experienced true brotherhood. This is what I like about Islam in that we are all brothers and that everyone is equal. I came to Islam through my friend “Fawad”, he is from Pakistan. He introduced me to the deen, used to ask me questions and I used to ask him questions too. I can’t remember now how many times we debated about religion and other interesting topics such as “the nature of Jesus Christ, what religion is the true religion”, etc. I learned very much from him, and then I got introduced to the Quran. Reading the Quran touched my heart. Through the reading I sensed like if my Creator was talking directly to me. My family is fine with me for choosing Islam as my religion, they didn’t make it hard for me yet, or they might just think I’m a little bit crazy or something like that but that doesn’t bother me. I find Islam as the solution to all the problems of mankind and of course I would recommend it to people because it’s the way of life prescribed by God.
