Intercourse with slave women wasn't created by Islam, it was so common in Christianity and Judaism, but Islam came to set roles for it!
1Ki 15:19 There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
1Ki 15:20 So Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
1Ki 15:21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
1Ki 15:22 Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
1Ki 15:23 The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
In addition, Hajar, Ismael's mother, was Ibraham's slave!
So, slavery was so common before prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and if Muslims’ enemies had got chance to beat Muslims, they would take Muslims’ women as slaves!
Islam came to teach us how to deal with them; to free them; to help them. Furthermore, Islam made slaves as exactly as our brothers; to feed them from we eat as an example!
The Idea of slavery in Islam is not as its peer in the western countries, which depicted by anti-Islam!!! Slaves in Islam are not as slaves in any other religion! … As they have rights as humans to get married, divorced, to release themselves via an in advance deal with his owner to give him a sum of money to be free.
- Islam forbids the owner to push them to commit a tiny sin, even the sin was just delaying prayers
- Islam forbids the owner to torture his slaves physically or psychologically.
- Islam pushes Muslims to free slaves indirectly, for the reward given to the owner who frees slaves.
Concerning intercourse with slave women, Islam set many roles for saving their rights, for example,
1- They must be Must be captured in the infidels' war, i.e. non-joint in the war can't be captured!
2- If a couple was captured together no one can have sex with her as long as she stays with her husband. In the case of selling the husband, her owner can do it after making sure that she is not pregnant, and selling her husband is considered as a divorce.
3- No captive woman can be for more than one person, she must be for one person only.
4- If she gets a baby from her owner, she can’t be sold, and once her owner dies, she becomes free. And her son is free since his birth.
5- No body is allowed to make them have sex with any person except the owner; no body can make them whores.
So, it’s clearly shown that, the intercourse with captive women has been permitted under specific circumstances as exactly marriage, but no one has said marriage is a kind of rape!
The West's problem when they fought against slavery was that they thought slavery in Islam, such as slavery with them, a vast difference between the two!!!
To put it in a nut shell, slaves in Islam are like servants at home!; intercourse in Islam is like marriage, both have conditions and rights!
But the problem is that Westerners want to make a bad attitude towards Islam through these Kinds of stereotypes! To make the other has a negative picture about Islam!
However, they never think about capturing a complete country with its people controlling their lives, their freedom, and their living sources!
They kill whoever; destroy whatever they want anywhere, but Islam is the guilt, however!!!!
