Question:

Hi, I know this may sound strange as I am born a Muslim, but basically me and my family and friendspractice Islam culturally rather than properly. I have become more interested in following it properly. But how do we know Islam is the true religion, what about the other religions? Their followers believe 100% in them like Hinduism for example. And its like why doesn’t everyone pray if we’re supposed to?

Religion requires a lot of belief and its hard to muster up just like that. There are too many rules, I do understand there have to be but why is it so hard. Like I don’t want to wear a scarf, I want to have fun and that’s another thing, it doesn’t seem like Islam is a religion where fun is allowed. In my opinion, being a teen myself, why other young Muslims have boyfriends and girlfriends and go clubbing…, etc. because they want to enjoy this life to the maximum not that I am advocating this to be good. No one takes death seriously really. Having fun is so much easier as we don’t really take hell seriously, I suppose like if everyone was once shown it or something everyone would be religious.

Having said that, I do believe in an afterlife but I’m still not convinced overall. What is the point of our existence and though the descriptions of Paradise sound good but no offence a little bit boring. So you’re just happy in a garden for the rest of eternity, it just seems unimaginable and the people who were bad are roasted alive?? I am sorry if I have caused offence by my views but I’m just trying to put my viewpoint across and I really hope you can shed light on these issues for me as I’m very very confused. Thank you
