Oracle Press Release
Meteor Mobile Communications Maximizes 3G Network Capacity Using Oracle Communications

TM Forum Management World, Nice, France – 18 May 2010
News Facts

Meteor Mobile Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eircom Group plc and one of Ireland’s fastest growing mobile operators, has successfully deployed Oracle Communications Network Intelligence and Oracle Communications Network Integrity to meet the capacity planning and routing demands of its rapidly expanding 3G network. The provider worked with Oracle Communications Consulting to complete the implementation.
The solution provides Meteor with an accurate, end-to-end view of network capacity utilization by aggregating data from multiple internal systems and vendor network equipment.
Oracle Communications Network Intelligence’s intuitive user interface helps Meteor perform complex network analysis and generate plans that support network demand forecasts, as well as ongoing “what-if” scenarios – all of which can help optimize capital expenditures.
The Oracle solution has helped Meteor establish an accurate capacity baseline for its entire network, improve asset utilization, optimize network routing, streamline network provisioning and reduce operational expenditures.
Meteor licensed the Oracle software in FY08.

“Oracle Communications Network Intelligence and Oracle Communications Network Integrity have made an immediate and positive impact on how we manage our network capacity. Not only are we seeing the benefit in our 3G network rollout but also in our legacy 2G network. We expect to gain further substantial efficiencies as we continue to fully exploit the optimization and migration functionality it provides,” said John Cusack, head of mobile access networks planning and design, Meteor Mobile Communications.
“Like Meteor, many operators are challenged in managing network capacity efficiently. They seek to minimize expensive network capital and network expenditures while also minimizing the risk of network congestion and outages that may affect customer service. Oracle’s software delivers tangible business benefits by enabling operators to manage their entire network capacity more efficiently,” said Dan Ford, vice president of product marketing, Oracle Communications.
