Default Need Help: Pagan practices in Christianity

    Asalam Alykom WaRahmatuAllah

    My Question is:

Out of the Christianity practices in their special events like Christmas, Easter, Halloween.....and so on, which from them are originated from pagan origins?

For example: I heard in a lecture that the tradition of getting the Christmas tree decorated is nothing but a pagan act, since many of the early Christians preachers used to call pagan people to Christianity and so they made the religion seemed to be very easy and flexible so they invent some pagan practices to make it fit the new converts.

Can someone enlighten me? May Allah reward you all the highest rank of Paradise.

    Pre-Christian roots
Historically, there has been opposition to the custom of the Christmas tree because of its pagan origins. In 1851, parishioners in Cleveland, Ohio, condemned as a pagan practice the actions of the pastor, Henry Schwan, for decorating one of the earliest Christmas trees in an American Christian church

    Salamualykum brothers and sisters
I just joined and this is my first post

Concerning the Pagan practices of Christianity , I can go forever on this ! the sacraments , the church , the cross....etc for starters I recommend this book :

    "Pagan Christianity"
    By Frank Viola
    http://www.mediafire.com/?eak2zywtjmj

This book isn't really a book that deals with the pagan origins of christian dogmatic beliefs like the deity of Jesus , it deals souly on the PRACTICES , like christmas , easter and the sacraments.

Frank exposes all of the pagan origins of these practices that go on in christiandom and the church.

What makes this book really special is that Frank is a christian minister , and he calls for the elemination of these practices from christianity , therefore you can be sure that this book isn't written by some hateful athiest like many christians like to argue everytime we mention a source .

    I hope this is useful
